What is a Wart?

Warts are the cost common skin condition that is caused by an infection with the human papilloma virus, or HPV. There are numerous subtypes of HPV, with warts affecting different areas of the body, such as the hands, feet, mouth and genitals.

What to look for:

  • Lesions that usually begin small
  • Lesions that may or may not continue to grow in size
  • Dry spot of small black dots
  • The hands and feet of children, which are more susceptible to warts

Warts can be tricky to treat, so early detection is key. Once diagnosed, we will work on a treatment plan that may include over-the-counter remedies, medications or freezing the wart with liquid nitrogen.
