WHAT IS A PHOTOFACIAL (OPTIMAL PULSED LIGHT)?

(OPL) is a nonsurgical treatment that will improve your skin's appearance, quickly and easily. Specialized pulses target brown spots, sun damage and vessels without harming the surrounding skin. The light delivered to your skin causes them to slowly disappear through your body’s natural healing process.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF OPL?

-5-30 minute treatment time
-1-3+ sessions
-Low discomfort
-No downtime

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING AND AFTER THE TREATMENT?
  • The sensation of light is sometimes bright and uncomfortable. It may feel like a moderate to severe pinprick or flash of heat
  • A mild sunburn-like sensation is expected. This usually lasts 2-24 hours but can persist up to 72 hours
  • Mild swelling and/or redness may accompany this, but it is usually resolved in 2-5 days. It could be very minimal and unnoticeable. Do not be alarmed if you experience puffiness around the eyes and also “chipmunk” swelling in the cheeks. To minimize swelling, sleep elevated the night after the laser treatment (use an extra pillow under your head)
  • The vessels may undergo immediate fraying or blanching, or they may exhibit a slight purple or red color change. The vessels will fully or partially fade in about 10-14 days. Vascular lesion endpoints are complete vasoconstriction, color change, or shrinking of the vessel. Some swelling and purpura may be expected
  • Pigmented lesions may initially look raised and/or darker with a reddened perimeter. The lesions will gradually turn darker over the next 24 hours. They may even turn black. The lesion will progress to crusting, and then it will be naturally shed by the skin in an average of 7-14 days
PRE TREATMENT CARE
  • Discontinue any treatment topicals and prescription medications 7 days prior to treatment
  • No sun exposure, tanning beds, and sunless tanning cream for 4-6 weeks prior to treatment. Sun exposure decreases the effectiveness of the laser treatment and can increase the chance of post treatment complications
  • Use a broad spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen with an SPF 30+. We recommend Brush on Block, Avene Mineral SPF 50, or Blue Lizard. Apply to the treated area every 2 hours when exposed to the sun. It is recommended to make this part of your skin care routine
  • Remove all makeup, creams or oils prior to treatment
  • Test spots may be performed to determine effective treatment settings
POST TREATMENT CARE
  • Apply wrapped ice or gel packs, only if necessary, 3 hours after treatment. Never apply ice directly to skin
  • An oral, over-the-counter anti-inflammatory (ibuprofen such as Advil) or an analgesic (acetaminophen such as Tylenol) may be taken to reduce discomfort
  • Bathe and shower as usual. Treated areas may be temperature-sensitive
  • Do not pick, remove, or pull at any darkened lesions as scarring may occur
  • Do not push or pull on areas where vascular lesions were treated
  • Apply cicalfate as directed, to promote healing & repairing of the skin
  • Continue back on the recommended Environ/Avene treatment plan in 24-72 hours to maintain optimal results
  • Avoid Swimming, Hot tubs, Jacuzzis, and Saunas
  • Avoid Activities that cause excessive sweating or any activity that may raise core body temp
  • Avoid Sun exposure to treated areas. Use the recommend SPF to prevent skin color changes
  • Avoid aggressive scrubbing, use of exfoliants including AHA’s/BHA’s, and topical medications or treatments on the area
WHAT IS NON-ABLATIVE LASER RESURFACING?

Laser resurfacing gives you a more youthful looking appearance with improved tone and texture of your skin. Achieve long lasting results without the pain or side effects associated with invasive surgery. This fractional technology uses microbeams of energy to create areas of affected tissue that extend through the epidermis into the dermis. This triggers the body’s natural healing process to create new, healthy collagen.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF LASER RESURFACING?

-15-45 minute treatment time
-2-5+ sessions
-Moderate discomfort
-Long lasting results

WHAT IS NON-ABLATIVE LASER RESURFACING FOR STRETCH MARKS?

When the skin has been stretched too far or too fast unsightly lines appear. Laser stretch mark is fast and easy. This fractional technology uses pulses of laser light to target and break down stretch marks, triggering new tissue production underneath the skin. This new collagen will help improve both the texture and color of the stretch marks.

WHAT IS NON-ABLATIVE LASER RESURFACING FOR ACNE SCARS OR SURGICAL SCARS?

Pulses of laser light are gently delivered to the treatment area, creating heat, which helps to break down the scar tissue and stimulate collagen and elasticity. You can see an overall improvement in the tone and texture of the scar. A series of treatments may be required for desired results.

WHY LASER FOR TREATMENT OF LEG VEINS?

Laser vein removal is an easy, fast, and effective way to treat superficial veins. It diminishes the appearance without the pain of surgical treatments and lengthy downtimes. The laser light targets and constricts the blood vessels in the leg that cause spider veins without harming the surrounding tissue. Over a period of four to six weeks, the vein is reabsorbed by the body and disappears.
How do I know if I am a candidate for laser vein treatment?
All individuals are evaluated prior to laser therapy. Spider veins do not cause symptoms and are of a cosmetic concern only. For those who have symptoms, further investigation is done to ensure that they do not have varicose veins. Laser therapy is most effective for the very small spider veins and not used to treat large varicose veins.
